The mortarboards flew high into the air. The first diploma-awarding ceremony for graduates of first- and second-cycle studies at our Faculty is over. Thank you for being with us!

On 18 November, almost 150 graduates received commemorative diplomas in the Wrocław University of Science and Technology auditorium. They were accompanied by their families. There were congratulatory speeches, emotions and camera flashes. The ceremony of awarding diplomas to first and second cycle studies was opened by Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. In his speech, he congratulated the graduates and, referring to his experiences, emphasized the role of parents in achieving this success.

– You really have something to be proud of and your families too. At the same time, I am asking you that regardless of how much time, effort and stress you put into completing these studies, thank your families, because probably without their support it would not be so easy. Maybe sometimes things are different, but I am deeply grateful to my parents for helping me a lot when I was a student – said Prof. Andrzej Kucharski.

The dean also pointed out that working in the rapidly evolving IT industry will involve constant learning and effort. “If you work in this industry, you will learn throughout your life,” he said. In his speech, he also hoped that certain basic skills that the graduates learned at the Faculty, such as the ability to think independently and solve problems, will help them in their further career paths. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of the studies completed by the graduates.

– It is always going to be like this. You will have to learn until the end of your days, just like all of us. Some people say that a university diploma is not so meaningful anymore. Employers have varying perspectives on it. But when people say that, they usually don't mean the WUST diploma. Perhaps a day will come when a the Faculty's graduation diploma will mean nothing. But today is not that day. Congratulations! – concluded the dean of our Faculty.
