Faculty of Information and Communication Technology

Telecommunications

Description of the field of study

In this field, students are educated in the area of mobile and stationary telecommunication networks (including radio, optical and wired transmission), and designing safe multimedia networks and services. The graduate is also ready to solve problems related to designing, implementing and operating biometric and embedded systems, and also to design sensor networks and IoT systems. The graduate also has knowledge and skills in such areas as: optimisation, Very High Frequency techniques, information compression, signal processing, ICT system security, Ultra-Wide Band and terahertz techniques, quality evaluation methods in multimedia services and in electromagnetic environment protection, as well as in other aspects very important in the light of the present-day rapid expansion of radiocommunication systems related among others to the introduction of 5G systems. Studies in the field of Telecommunications also provide students with practical skills related to entrepreneurship and the so-called “soft skills,” which are increasingly appreciated and required by employers.

Specialisations

ICT Mobile Networks, ICT and Multimedia

The specialisation will be launched depending on student demand. It may not be launched if not enough students are interested in it.

The graduate can

diagnose and optimise the operation of telecommunication networks, develop advanced multimedia services, design high-frequency / optical-fibre systems and devices, design and test security systems in telecommunication networks, design IoT systems and sensor networks.
