The topic of the diploma thesis

Starting in the summer semester 2022/2023, all processes related to diploma dissertations are carried out only in the USOS-APD system. (http://apd.usos.pwr.edu.pl/)

Two activities are defined in the USOS-APD system:

  • submission of a diploma dissertation topic
  • submission of an application for the approval of the diploma dissertation topic

Submission of a diploma dissertation topic is general and not the same as the submission of the topic to the Program Commission of the Main Field of Study for approval. The topic can be submitted not by assigning a student to the topic but rather by publishing it in the Catalogue, in which a student can view the available diploma dissertation topics offered by supervisors.

An application for the approval of the diploma dissertation topic can be submitted only when a student is assigned to the topic.
The submission of this application can be prepared:

  • on the basis of the submitted diploma dissertation topic, if a student wish to choose the topic contacts the teacher after the topic has been published in the Catalogue
  • without the prior submission of the diploma dissertation topic, if a particular diploma dissertation topic is prepared specially for a particular student.

Due to the specific character of the USOS-APD system, the topic or the application for topic approval should be submitted in accordance with the relevant instructions, with care for the linguistic and editorial quality, and with particular attention to the diploma dissertation requirements. The topic containing mistakes can be returned to the supervisor only at the stage of reviewing it by the Program Commission of the Main Field of Study.

Submission, approval and choice of the diploma dissertation topic

1. Completing and publishing the submission of a diploma dissertation topic * - manual (soon in english)

8. Submitting to the dean's office of the printout/print-screen of the approved topic application as a declaration of the choice of the diploma dissertation topic. The printout must be signed by both the student and the supervisor.
