Artificial Intelligence

Description of the field of study

The field provides basic knowledge on artificial intelligence and data science. It helps develop mathematical, programming, computing and analytical skills, as well as project-based teamwork skills with a focus on identifying and solving problems (of a scientific, business or social nature) with the use of intelligent methods and techniques. The field is addressed to candidates who know mathematics and algorithmics, who are interested in data analysis and artificial intelligence (including machine learning), and who can develop software. The candidate should be ready to work intensively on a research and deployment project. The study program includes issues related to: machine learning methods, including probabilistic and deep learning models,  applications of artificial intelligence in personalised recommendation systems and in natural language processing,  multimedia data, network data and data from digital media.

The field makes students familiar with techniques related to extracting information from bulk, complex, spatial and affective data. Students also learn about methodologies for AI-related projects as part of a three-semester research and deployment project. They are introduced to business applications of artificial intelligence. As part of their studies, they can choose from one of three further development paths: further research work (a PhD program),  work in the best research and development centres worldwide (Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Samsung etc.),   an own start-up related to the development and application of AI.

The graduate can

accept technology-related challenges in various areas and solve them with the use of AI, use machine learning methods, including deep learning models and statistical deduction, as well as modern IT tools in difficult tasks related to data analysis and interpret this information in practical applications, analyse complex, bulk and dynamic linguistic, multimedia or medical data obtained from social media, economic events etc.

Enrolment conditions

Required degree: Engineer or Engineer MSc, Bachelor in Architectural Engineering or MSc in Architectural Engineering. Allowed fields of completed studies: no restrictions.
