Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs awarded the title professor magnus to six outstanding scientists. This is an expression of appreciation for their contributions to science and our university. Among them were Prof. Halina Kwaśnicka and Prof. Ewaryst Rafajłowicz from our Faculty.

For three consecutive years, the professor magnus title will be held by: Prof. Tomasz Downarowicz (Faculty of Mathematics), Prof. Jan Dziuban (Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems), Prof. Jerzy Grobelny (Faculty of Management), Prof. Halina Kwaśnicka (Faculty of Information and Communication Technology), Prof. Halina Podbielska (Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology) and Prof. Ewaryst Rafajłowicz (Faculty of Information and Communication Technology).

Currently, this unique status has been given to eighteen people at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. In addition to the six professors awarded this year, they are:

• Prof. Krzysztof Abramski (Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems) – professor magnus since 2022,
• Prof. Jan Biliszczuk (Faculty of Civil Engineering) – professor magnus since 2021,
• Prof. Marek Bryjak (Faculty of Chemistry) – professor magnus since 2022,
• Prof. Jan Misiewicz (Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology) – professor magnus since 2021,
• Prof. Janusz Mroczka (Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems) – professor magnus since 2021,
• Prof. Marek Samoć (Faculty of Chemistry) – professor magnus since 2021,
• Prof. Edward Chlebus (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) – profesor magnus since 2021,
• Prof. Lech Gładysiewicz (Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology) – professor magnus from 2022,
• Prof. Antoni Szydło (Faculty of Civil Engineering) – professor magnus since 2022,
• Prof. Jerzy Świątek (Faculty of Information and Communication Technology) – professor magnus since 2022,
• Prof. Aleksander Weron (Faculty of Mathematics) – professor magnus since 2021,
• Prof. Tadeusz Więckowski (Faculty of Information and Communication Technology) – professor magnus since 2022.

The status of Professor Magnus is granted in a competition mode, conducted in the summer semester and granted for a period of three years by the rector, only at the request of the College of Chairmen of Scientific Discipline Councils, after consulting the Senate.

Everyone who receives this title has the right to use it inside and outside the university.

The title holders are also allowed to be employed in the position of a professor with an unchanged working time and under the existing conditions after retirement. They may also act as the head of a department at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (during the employment period).
