The cinema hall of the University's Film Discussion Club has already been renovated. All thanks to Dr. Wojciech Wodo from our Faculty, who submitted the project to restore the cinema hall to the Polytechnica Nova competition. The project was accepted and received funding.

The project submitted by Dr. Wojciech Wodo won the distinction in the „University Social Responsibility" category. Thanks to funding from the project Polytechnica Nova, the paintwork of the ceilings and walls in the cinema hall was restored and the wooden panelling was also refreshed. The Club purchased new audio-video equipment, and replaced the furniture in the projection cabin. Fabric curtains appeared on the windows, which ensure an appropriate atmosphere during the screenings. The works included the cleaning of the floor and the washing of the upholstery on the seats.

– I would like to emphasize that our goal was not to completely change the appearance of the room. We wanted to maintain its unique character and ensure that it could serve cinema lovers for years to come. As a result of the renovation, the hall can also host theatre performances or mini concerts. That's because the podium can now be easily moved in order to form a small stage – explains Dr. Wojciech Wodo.

The grand opening of the "new" cinema hall took place on 27 October with a special screening of the film „Jasminum" directed by Jan Kolski. Since the beginning of October, film screenings have been held on Thursdays in room 329. The full repertoire is available on the website of the Club.

The Film Discussion Club, founded by Andrzej Ostoja-Solecki, has been operating at our University for 60 years. During that period, thousands of students interested in good films passed through room 329 in the A-1 building. The club organizes film screenings and reviews, as well as many other cultural events. After the renovation, the hall is already adapted to new technological solutions.
