First-cycle Artificial Intelligence has been launched at our Faculty. The new course proved very attractive during the recruitment process. Graduates of AI are expected to play a significant role in the development of industry, science, and medicine.
Artificial intelligence is a field designed for individuals interested in autonomous and intelligent data processing technologies which translate into innovative solutions used in various industry sectors.
– I was thinking about robotics, but I decided that Artificial Intelligence is a field with a future. Besides, AI can be used in robotics – said Kinga, who is starting her studies in the new field.
These are interdisciplinary studies – they combine mathematical and analytical skills with topics such as social media analysis, brain-computer interfaces, or social responsibility issues, which facilitate understanding the principles of functioning and creating Artificial Intelligence.

– Currently, everyone is concerned about the development of the job market in the age of artificial intelligence. Stanford University recently published a material where they analysed the impact of AI on various professions, identifying which ones are at risk and which are not. You will not be threatened, because you will be creating these artificial intelligence systems. I wish you a wonderful time. You will be our partners, not students – emphasized Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, dean of our Faculty, while welcoming new students.
For those interested in obtaining an engineering degree in the new field, the Faculty has prepared 64 places. The first classes took place on Thursday, 2 October. They began with a discussion of what awaits students over the next 7 semesters.
– You are the best of the best. The recruitment index for these studies was 11.8 people per place. This is the most competitive field of study at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Welcome, we are very pleased that you are here and that you have chosen our field, which is challenging and very demanding. But it can change your life and the lives of those you will work with – emphasized Prof. Piotr Bródka from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at our Faculty.
The study program is based on three pillars. The first is challenge based learning – a teaching method that promotes the rapid implementation of innovative solutions. The second pillar is design thinking, which is a design approach that meets real user needs and market demand. The third pillar are scientific-implementation projects, both individual and team-based, carried out in collaboration with the scientific community.

– I chose this field partly because I enjoy when the level of difficulty is high. From what I saw in the study program, there will be a lot of maths – said Jakub, an AI student.
– The field with the highest recruitment requirements. The syllabus intrigued me. There is a lot of programming and many things that I find interesting. My application was accepted in the second recruitment round. You could say I was lucky – emphasizes Wojciech, a new student.
In 2021, our Faculty launched two study fields related to artificial intelligence – Trusted Artificial Intelligence Systems and Artificial Intelligence. From the very beginning, they enjoyed significant interest from candidates. So far, however, the recruitment was possible only at the master's studies level.
