Another Success – Paweł Zyblewski, Ph.D. with the MEiN Scholarship

Paweł Zyblewski, Ph.D. from our Faculty received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN) for an outstanding young researcher. MEiN awarded a total of 215 scholarships, including 5 in the discipline of information and communication technology. Among them, there wer six WUST researchers. Congratulations to Dr. Zyblewski and to the rest of the researchers.

MEiN awarded the scholarships for highly innovative research and for highly prestigious academic career. The highest number of points were awarded for the authorship or co-authorship of a scientific monograph, a chapter in a scientific monograph or a scientific article, provided that they were published by a publishing house or published by a journal included in the ministerial list.

Dr inż. Paweł ZyblewskiThe research interests of Paweł Zyblewski, Ph.D., include machine learning technologies, pattern recognition, classifier assemblies and data stream analysis. He is currently one of the members of the team implementing the SWAROG project, the aim of which is to develop a system that detects sources of deliberate disinformation. He was awarded the main Polish Artificial Intelligence Society award for the best Ph.D. Dissertation in Artificial Intelligence (11th Edition, 2021).

According to Prof. Michał Woźniak, head of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks at our Faculty, where the distinguished scientist works, Dr. Zyblewski is an outstanding young scientist, as evidenced by the award for the best doctoral dissertation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship and numerous publications.

Earlier, in 2021, Dr. Zyblewski received the main Polish Artificial Intelligence Society award for the best Ph.D. Dissertation in Artificial Intelligence.

Candidates for scholarships were submitted by the end of December by university rectors and directors of institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, research institutes and international institutes. A total of 1,719 applications were submitted in this year's edition. They were assessed by the ministerial team using the scoring method, within individual disciplines of sciences and arts. Ultimately, the scholarships were awarded to 215 people, including 37 Ph.D. students. Six of them are researchers from WUST.

The prizes are awarded by a team of experts representing all 47 scientific disciplines, considering the publications, conference presentations, research projects, internships and other achievements presented in the applications. Other MEiN scholarships were awarded to:

•    Marcin Chwała, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
•    Patrycja Łydżba, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology,
•    Jeonghyun Kim, M.Sc. from the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
•    Maciej Napiórkowski, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology,
•    Tomasz Weron, M.Sc. from the Faculty of Mathematics.

The monthly scholarships of 5,390 PLN are awarded for a period of three years.
