Exactly 76 years ago, Kazimierz Idaszewski, professor of the pre-war Lviv Polytechnic, gave the first lecture in Wrocław after the war – it was delivered in Polish for 3rd and 4th year students of the Electrical Department. For this reasons, November 15 has been long celebrated as the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Day. The celebrations are also held this year, but due to the growing number of coronavirus infections, the University authorities have decided to postpone them until March.
“The pandemic, which prevented us from celebrating the WUST Day, at the same time shows importance of scientific research, shows how responsible and important work for society we do here. I am proud of your achievements and the successes of our University. Thank you very much and I wish you all the best,” says Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
On the occasion of the holiday, wishes were also made by:
Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology: on the occasion of the WUST Day, I would like to wish all of us that the University would be a place where people can not only gain knowledge, but also broadens horizons, make friendships and choose to be with pleasure and satisfaction.
I wish the students, especially ours, that FICT would meet their expectations and give them good education, and after many years, that their stay at the University and at the Faculty would be remembered as the best period in their life.
At the same time, I wish my employees a pleasant atmosphere and kindness.
I would like our Faculty to be not only the best in Poland and innovative, but also open to other people and their needs. Good luck!
Prof. Paweł Wachel, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs: Dear students! What can I wish you on the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
In the present situation, the most predictable and worn-out wishes for health seem to be very appropriate. Leaving the pandemic aside, however, I wish you that the time you spend at the University would be a time of inspiration and development for you.
Studies are a short period of time! So do not wait with following your passions. Discover the areas that help you develop. Share positive energy and get involved in the life of the Faculty and the entire University. All the best!
Prof. Robert Burduk, Vice-Dean for Academic and Educational Affairs: on the occasion of the WUST Day, I would like to wish students, PhD students and all university employees, especially employees and students of our Faculty, satisfaction from the place where some people learn, gain knowledge and education, and others provide this knowledge and take care that both education and work take place in the best possible conditions.
I wish everyone, but also myself, that we could be proud of our Faculty, with its friendly atmosphere and kindness. That it's a place where you like to be, willingly stay and come back with memories.
Finally, on the eve of the next wave of the pandemic, I wish everyone health.
Take care and see you in classes or corridors of the WIT.
Bogumiła Hnatkowska, PhD, Vice-Dean for Academic and Educational Affairs: On 15 November we celebrate the WUST Day. On this occasion, I would like to wish the University many years of stable development, a successful strategy and its consistent implementation.
To my employees – paraphrasing Bułat Okudżawa – I wish everything according to their needs: to the scientists – innovative ideas that will revolutionize the world, to the academic teachers – improving the workshop and groups full of satisfied students, to the administration workers – patience with everyone around, to the students – so that they can later say that Wroclaw University of Science and Technology was their best choice, and the time spent at the university – the best period in their life.
Maciej Gębala, PhD, Vice-Dean for Academic and Educational Affairs: on the occasion of the WUST Day, I wish the students of the new Faculty that their studies are successful and satisfying. I also wish a friendly faculty where they would have the opportunity to develop their skills and interests.
I wish my employees job satisfaction and that their successful cooperation at the Faculty and University will be a reason to be proud of their own and their colleagues' successes.
I wish everyone that the new Faculty, as part of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, will be one of the best in the country.
Prof. Dariusz Król, Vice-Dean for General Affairs: on the WUST Day, I wish the students, PhD students and employees of the Faculty good luck, kindness and satisfaction coming from learning, teaching and doing research.
In particular, I wish the students and PhD students a friendly and smiling faculty where they would have a chance to develop their skills. To the employees, I wish that their work and successful cooperation could be a reason to be proud of their own successes, as well as of their colleagues' successes. I wish everyone that the largest Faculty at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology will be the best in the country, open to the world and to new challenges.
