Since November 2014, in Bibliotech (D-21 building) works Laboratory of typhlo-informatics. It is a specialized laboratory designed for educationally and professionally active people with disabilities. The Tyfloinformatic Laboratory also offers support in the entire process of creating and sharing information both in digital and analog formats - from design, through implementation, audits, training, to supervision of introduced changes. Accessibility experts cooperate with the laboratory.

•    Research on making technical content available to people with disabilities, in particular the blind, developing techniques allowing for efficient adaptation of materials to an accessible form.
•    Works on methods of universal design and implementation of e-learning and web systems.
•    Development of new solutions supporting the validation of digital accessibility of websites, mobile applications and electronic documents.
•    Work on the use of 3D printing technology to support people with various disabilities in the field of education and spatial orientation.
•    Work on making new technical faculties available for study by visually impaired and blind students.

tyflo_en2m.jpgThe Tyfloinformatics Laboratory is equipped with specialist equipment that can be used by students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology with disabilities, incl. sight, hearing, manual. It is possible to rent equipment for educational purposes. In this case, please report to the Office of the Accessibility and Support Department for People with Disabilities (building C-13, room 1.09; tel. 71 320 43 20).

Project „Politechnika Nowych Szans”
From October 2019 to September 2023, the "Politechnika Nowych Szans" project is being implemented at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The main goal of the project is to improve the accessibility of Wrocław University of Science and Technology for people with disabilities by reducing the accessibility barriers for students / PhD students with disabilities.
The detailed goals of the project implemented at the Tyfloinformatics Laboratory include:

  • digitization and adaptation of existing electronic publications,
  • preparation and provision of universal educational materials (e-courses) helpful for academic teachers,
  • extending the information and communication, IT and digital technologies used at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, adapted to the needs of people with disabilities,
  • equipping buildings of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology with navigational maps and plans designed in a universal manner,
  • implementation of micronavigation and creation of the Digital Guide of Wrocław University of Science and Technology,
  • improvement of the architectural accessibility of selected buildings of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
