Date: 15.12.2023 Category: General

In their just published book, Dr. Wojciech Wodo, Dr. Przemysław Błaskiewicz and Damian Rybak describe digital identities and services operated in Poland.

ksiazka_wodo.jpgThe book „Analysis of the digital identity ecosystem in Poland, the degree of its implementation and the use of ID cards with an electronic layer” written by scientists from our Faculty is a description of digital identities and services currently operated in Poland, such as: electronic identity, digital signature, ID card in an application, digital signatures, trusted profiles or identity wallets such as #mObywatel.

Dr. Przemysław Błaśkiewicz and Dr. Wojciech Wodo, both from the Department of Fundamentals of Computer Science and Damian Rybak, a graduate from Wrocław University of Science and Technology, examined the entire range of digital identities and services that are available in Poland. They looked at how these services function in practice and what people in Poland know about this topic. They examined how the digital services available in Poland are compatible with the equivalent services in other European countries.

As the authors demonstrated, „harmonization of knowledge and processes related to electronic identity in Poland and Europe is a challenge due to constant legislative and technical changes in this area, as well as the lack of established sources of knowledge and educational campaigns."

The book clearly proves that, on the one hand, Polish residents have many digital tools that they can use to confirm their identity, but not everyone is yet able to use them efficiently and safely. Therefore, educational campaigns are still needed in the area of digital services. The book „Analysis of the digital identity ecosystem in Poland, the degree of its implementation and the use of ID cards with an electronic layer" is a good source if you want to expand knowledge in this area. It's definitely worth reading!
