The best competitors continue in the area, division, and district level (Poland is part of District 108, which, apart from our country, also includes Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Russia and Kazakhstan) and finally in the region level.
Two winners from each regional level qualify to the semi-finals. During the semi-finals, the jury selected eight finalists who presented themselves at the final gala in Nashville. It was organized in a hybrid form, with four finalists presenting themselves online and the rest on stage.
Each presentation lasted from five to seven minutes. Our graduate, in his speech titled "Ndini," which in Shona means "It's me," told a personal story about searching for his identity and how long it took him to accept himself.
"I didn't know what the result would be, but I was sure it was the best speech I ever wrote," says Cyril.
The jury, which awarded him the first place in the competition, had a similar impression. Our graduate also became the youngest world champion in the history of the competition.
– You could say that I performed almost all my life. My mother was an actress, so as a four-year-old I already played in plays and acted as an extra on TV shows, says Cyril Junior Dim. – I wrote my first speech at the age of 11. Two years later, I took part in a competition judged by members of Toastmasters International. This is how I found out about this organization. So when in 2018, during my first semester of studies at the University, I learned about the Wrocław club, I immediately became its member.
