Researchers and students of our Faculty and from other WUST faculties, as well as students of the ALO high school took part in a guitar rehearsal for the Guitar Guiness Record. The event was attended by a special guest – Leszek Cichoński, a famous Wrocław guitarist and organiser of the event, which will take place on 1 May at the Wrocław Market Square.
Wrocław University of Science and Technology guitarists gathered today at 10:40 under the clock of the C-13 building to play "Hey Joe", "Voodoo Child" and "Thanks Jimi" together with Leszek Cichoński. It was an official rehearsal before the Faculty staff and students jointly attend the annual attempt to break the Guitar Guiness Record.
The team consisting of: Leszek Cichoński, Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, dean of the Faculty, Prof. Paweł Wachel, Prof. Tomasz Kajdanowicz, Dr. Marek Kopel, Paula Sobok and Kuba Kalecki – a third-year student of technical computer science, were joined by other students and WUST employees, as well as by students of the ALO academic high school.
The rehearsal for the Guitar Guiness Record took place for the first time, but in the future it is to become a cyclical event for our Faculty and the entire Wrocław University of Science and Technology community. Together we broke the WUST Guitar Record, and now it's time to break the Guitar Guiness Record. 7,961 guitarists played in the Wrocław Market Square on 1 May last year. The record was broken and we had a share in it again. Our team consisted of over 60 people..
This year we want to break another record and we hope that on 1 May, 2024, we will go to the Market Square as an even larger group. If you are a student or employee of our Faculty or another WUST faculty and you play guitar or ukulele, we invite you to play together. Would you like to play Hey Joe with us? Don't wait, we collect applications at: promocja.wit@pwr.edu.pl.
