Kamil Winiarz – a DJ playing British electronic music as Guiltee, a presenter on Radio LUZ, and starting this year, an employee of the Promotion and Contacts with Stakeholders Team at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology is the main character in the #IamFromWUST series. Hello!

"I'm a total retroman! I love the '90s, and this is reflected in my favorite style of music. As a DJ I specialize in jungle. This type of music originated in the 1990s in Great Britain and gave birth to drum'n'bass. When I discovered it, I felt something special. It was completely niche, but finally gave me what I was looking for in music. Today, jungle has returned to the club scene, and I try not to close myself in this »box«.

My path to electronic music was not obvious. I started with guitar, punk, reggae and dub music. When I came to study journalism and joined Radio LUZ in 2016, I had waist-length dreadlocks. When I was in high school, together with my friends, I followed information about clubs and interesting people playing music in Wrocław. In Kotlina Kłodzka, where I was born, there were no live events with these genres. So we formed the Massif collective to bring club music to the mountains.

It still amazes me that the DJs from LUZ, who inspired me in my high school days, are my friends today. Together with two friends from the radio, we created the SPLOT collective. One of them – DJ Glassz – organized with me the Drumformator party, which was supposed to be a new start for drum'n'bass in Wrocław. And we did it! We won the Munoludy Award for it.

Besides friendships, LUZ gave me a chance to meet musicians. Today, I smile when I think that the most important interview I had was not »on tape«. As representatives of the Night Bus broadcast, we went to the Audioriver festival to interview DJ Storm – a female legend of drum'n'bass. I was very pleased with the interview, but at some point I realized that the equipment had failed and the interview was not recorded. All I had to do was tell on the air in my own words what I heard.

Today on Radio LUZ I host a night show with British electronic music. Currently, you can meet me on the social media of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. And now #IamFromWUST for sure!
