The Solvro student research club from our Faculty has developed a mobile application for WUST students. The purpose of the ToPWR application is to effectively introduce first-year students to the academic community, but also to make life easier for more experienced students.
The ToPWR application was developed by students for students. Its aim is to allow them to function more effectively at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. It contains a campus map, a day counter until the upcoming session, information about dean's offices, science clubs and free parking spaces.
–ToPWR is the result of our experiences and ideas that we would like to share with other students. After all, each of us started from scratch, so why not create something that would make life at the university easier? We wanted every student to have such a buddy in their pocket, offering support and help in everyday life. After all, studying is not only about learning, it is also about discovering, getting to know, sometimes getting a little lost – and that's okay – say the authors of the application from the Solvro club.
The project has been developed from scratch by the Solvro club, and its first version was released in October 2022. The idea for the application came from Jakub Legut. The current version of the application has been developed by:
- Szymon Kowaliński – Tech Lead (Applied Computer Science, 3rd year)
- Mikołaj Jałocha – Flutter Developer (Information Technology in Automation Systems, 2nd year)
- Tomasz Trela – Flutter Developer (Applied Computer Science, 2nd year)
- Kamil Fedio – Flutter Developer (System Engineering, 2nd year)
- Wojciech Krzos – Project Manager (Applied Computer Science, 3rd year)
- Aleksandra Zakrzewska – Project Manager (Management engineering, 4th year)
- Martyna Grygiel – UI/UX Designer i Flutter Developer (Artificial Intelligence, 2nd year)
- Bartosz Gotowski – DevOps (Applied Computer Science, 3rd year).
The team of programmers from the Solvro club prepared an application that would offer answers to all the questions they themselves had at the beginning of their student career. ToPWR can provide information on dormitories, retake courses, student etiquette and the Erasmus program.
You can also read about student research clubs and organizations, WUST faculties, or you can find out what matriculation is, whether lectures are mandatory and how to write an e-mail to the lecturer.
–The application combines three sources of information about student organizations. It lists all student organizations from the website of the Student Activity Support Department (225 organizations + faculty-wide student self governments). This list is supplemented by the data collected by the Student Government. In the third step, a special survey is sent to student clubs and organizations so that they can update and adapt the data in ToPWR to their needs – explains Szymon Kowaliński from the Solvro club.
If your student group or organization has not received a link to the survey or has just started its activities, please contact the authors at: kn.solvro@pwr.edu.pl or via https://solvro.pwr.edu.pl/contact/ to receive a private link to the survey. The Solvro club is still developing the application and plans further improvements in the future. The club's members encourage students to contact them with suggestions for further functionalities.
