Five students from Wrocław University of Science and Technology, including two from our Faculty: a rower Zuzanna Jasińska and an archer Miłosz Chojecki, qualified for the third edition of the Polish Academic Team program. In effect it will be easier for them to combine education with a sports career.
The project involves the co-financing of additional classes for students pursuing a sports career. The study program is organized in the form of an individual course of study throughout the calendar year in accordance with the planned number of additional hours for a given student.
The program is open to public and private universities with at least 200 full-time students, among which there are Olympic training players, medallists of the Olympic Games, European Games, Senior World Championships and Senior European Championships, University Olympic Games and Academic World Championships, as well as students-athletes with disabilities, including the hearing impaired and students-athletes with sports classification – international championship and championship.
A total of 562 people from 38 universities will benefit from this support in the current third edition of the program. This group also includes students from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. They are:
Zuzanna Jasińska
Third year student of Technical Computer Science at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. She has been training rowing for eight years, and her greatest successes include bronze medal at the Youth World Championships (Racice, 2021), silver medal at the Youth European Championships (Kruszwica, 2021), bronze medal at the 1st World Cup (Belgrade, 2022) and numerous Polish Championships medals (including the title of Polish Senior Champion and Polish Junior Champion). Her greatest sporting dream is to participate in the Olympic Games.
Miłosz Chojecki
First year student of Algorithmic Computer Science at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. He trains Olympic archery. Since 2017 he has been a member of the national team of the Polish Archery Association, and since 2021 – a member of the national senior team. Jego największe osiągnięcia to zdobycie Mistrzostwa Polski Juniorów oraz kwalifikacja do reprezentacji kraju na wszystkie rundy Pucharu Świata Seniorów oraz Mistrzostwa Europy Seniorów. His goal is to start in the next year's European Games and in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Przemysław Litwin
First year student of 2nd cycle optics at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology and of 1st cycle aviation and aerospace engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering. He has been training judo for almost 18 years, currently at the AZS AWF Wrocław club. A long-time member of the national team, he represented Poland at the Youth European Championships two years ago. He is a four-time vice-champion of Poland, a team youth champion of Poland, a team senior champion of Poland, a two-time bronze medallist of the Academic Championships of Poland and a multiple medallist of the Polish Cup tournaments. Currently, he is preparing for the Academic Olympic Games in Łódź, where he will represent Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.
Zofia Polowczyk
European Junior Championships, which will be held in Rome at the end of June.1st year student of geodesy and cartography at the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology. She started training wrestling when she was six. A year ago, she won a silver medal at Polish Junior Championships, and this year she triumphed in this competition in the category up to 65 kg. At the beginning of June, she won a Polish Senior Championships bronze medal in the category up to 68 kg. Thanks to these successes, she has a chance to go to the European Junior Championships, which will be held in Rome at the end of June.
Zofia Janelli
1st year student of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture. She is an epeeist in the AZS Wratislavia club. Her greatest successes include the 3rd place in teams at the Cadet European Championships in Foggia, 3rd place at the Cadet World Championships in Toruń, 2nd place in teams at the European Junior Championships in Poreč, 3rd place in teams at the Junior World Championships in Cairo, 1st place at the National Youth Olympics and 3rd place at the Polish Senior Championships.
