Our scientist joined the Polish Academy of Sciences! By the decision of the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Michał Woźniak from the Department of Computer Systems and Networks has been admitted to this body as a corresponding member. Congratulations!
The new full members and corresponding members of the Polish Academy of Sciences were elected in Warsaw on 26 June. The scientists have joined the group of over 300 researchers distinguished by their exceptional scientific achievements and authority in the academic community.
During the assembly, 30 corresponding members of the Polish Academy of Sciences have gained the status of full members. Among them were two from Wrocław University of Science and Technology: Prof. Marek Samoć and Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, both within Division 3 – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences.
The 45 new corresponding members, also include two representatives from WUST, one of whom is from our Faculty. The group comprises Prof. Michał Woźniak from the Department of Computer Systems and Networks, within Division 4 – Engineering Sciences and Prof. Marcin Drąg, within Division 3 – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences.
To be nominated as a full or corresponding member, the candidate must be distinguished by their scientific achievements and authority, as well as have an impeccable reputation. The total number of full and corresponding members of the Polish Academy of Sciences cannot exceed 350 people, and they hold their positions for life.
Many representatives from WUST
Currently, Polish Academy of Sciences includes eight people from Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Prof. Wójs and Prof. Samoć joined Prof. Janusz Mroczka from the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems, who is a full member within Division 4 – Engineering Sciences.
The remaining five corresponding members from our university are: Prof. Ewaryst Rafajłowicz from our Faculty (Division 4 – Engineering Sciences), Prof. Krzysztof Bogdan from the Faculty of Mathematics (Division 3 – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences), and Prof. Teodor Gotszalk from the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems (Division 4 – Engineering Sciences).
