Prof. Ngoc Thanh Nguyen, head of the Department of Applied Computer Science will once again be a member of the Council for its second term in 2024–2027. The candidacy of our scientist was submitted by two universities – Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the AGH University of Krakow. Prof. Ngoc Thanh Nguyen received the highest number of votes in the discipline of information and communication technology.

– The aim of the Council is to ensure the highest quality standards of scientific activity required to obtain scientific degrees, degrees in the field of art and the title of professor. From the beginning of my scientific career, this topic has been particularly important to me, which is why I was very satisfied with the results of the elections, – says Prof. Ngoc Thanh Nguyen. – I feel honoured by the trust from our scientific community. I am also aware of the responsibility that rests on me.

The scientist adds that the discipline of information and communication technology is one of the largest and dynamically developing disciplines.

– According to the Council report, in 2022, we conducted 23 habilitation procedures and 7 applications for the title of professor within the discipline – says the professor. – Within the entire Council, the number of applications for the title of professor was 518, including 42 cases in which the Council refused to present the candidate to the President of the Republic of Poland. The Council also processed 1,001 applications for initiating the procedure for awarding habilitated doctor degrees. We will face similar tasks in the coming years. As a representative of the discipline of information and communication technology at the Council, I face new challenges to ensure that the level of science in Poland is at the highest possible level. I will make every effort not to disappoint the trust of the people who voted for me.
