Prof. Halina Kwaśnicka received the Gold Cross of Merit. The Gold Medal for Long Service was awarded to: Prof. Urszula Markowska-Kaczmar, Dr. Jacek Mazurkiewicz and Dr. Zbigniew Staszak. Our three employees were awarded the Silver Medal for Long Service, and eight received the Bronze Medal for Long Service. Congratulations!
94 university employees were awarded decorations by the President of the Republic of Poland. The Crosses of Merit and Medals for Long Service were presented during a special ceremony in the H-14 building.
The Cross of Merit is a distinction awarded for self-sacrificing public activity, for self-sacrificing help and for charity work. It is awarded to persons whose actions exceed the scope of their normal duties and bring a significant benefit to the state or its citizens.
The award is divided into three degrees: Gold Cross of Merit, Silver Cross of Merit and Bronze Cross of Merit. On Tuesday, the gold crosses were awarded to Prof. Halina Kwaśnicka (Faculty of Information and Communication Technology) and Prof. Wacław Urbańczyk (Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology). The silver cross was awarded to Prof. Piotr Jamróz (Faculty of Chemistry).

Medals for Long Service are awarded as a reward for exemplary, exceptionally conscientious performance of duties resulting from professional work. The award is divided into three degrees: a gold medal is awarded for 30 years of service, a silver one for 20 and a bronze one for 10. During the ceremony, WUST employees received a total of twenty-one gold, twenty-two silver and forty-eight bronze medals.
All of the medals were presented during a special ceremony in the H-14 building by Wrocław University of Science and Technology Rector Arkadiusz Wójs and by the vice-governor of Lower Silesia Voivodship, Dr. Piotr Kozdrowicki.
