This year's juvenalia will be jointly organized by nine Wrocław universities. A relevant letter of intent was signed today at the Tarczyński Arena Wrocław. Juvenalia concerts will be organized on the esplanade of this building on 22 and 23 May.
Rectors, vice-rectors for student affairs and presidents of student governments from nine Wrocław universities signed a letter of intent that allows them to jointly organize a student festival in Wrocław. On 22 and 23 May, during the #WrocławRazem Juwenalia 2024, students will gather on the esplanade of the Tarczyński Arena Wrocław to participate in specially prepared concerts.
– We met here, exactly 113 days before the start of the student festival, to announce that Wrocław universities are united in the intent to organize this student celebration together – said Dr. Piotr Górski, vice-rector for student affairs at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. – Today we are signing an official agreement, and local government representatives will present the first artist who will perform in May. We will gradually inform you about further events and invited stars through the university websites and social media.
Juvenalia will be organized jointly by: Wrocław University of Science and Technology (leader of the project), University of Wrocław, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Wrocław University of Economics, the Piastów Śląskich Medical University of Wrocław, the Polish Olympians Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław, the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław. Coventry University Wrocław also became a partner of the event.
The patron of the event is the College of Rectors of Wrocław and Opole Universities. „In a sense, it is a return to the academic traditions from the past years, but these juvenalia will certainly be different. They will be just like students want them,” said the chairman of the College, Prof. Krystian Kiełb, rector of the Academy of Music in Wrocław. “These days belong to students, so we, the rectors, simply support them in implementing their ideas. And we intend to fulfil this role well.
The first star is already known
During a press conference at the stadium, representatives of the student government announced the first star who will perform at the juvenalia.
– We are glad that we will be able to shake a leg at our juvenalia, and this will certainly be possible with Young Leosia, who agreed to perform in Wrocław – said Szymon Łakomy, chairman of the WUST Student Government.
Young Leosia is a rapper, songwriter, sound engineer and DJ who became famous in 2021 with songs such as „Szklanki" and „Jungle Girl".
