We learned the names of young researchers who will start their adventure with the elite Academia Iuvenum (AI) on 1st October. The lucky group includes representatives of all twelve scientific disciplines pursued at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, including from our faculty.
Elite, interdisciplinary and creative
In its first year, Academia Iuvenum gathers 24 young scientists who are under 35 years of age and who have recently received their doctorate (at least one year ago). All of them were selected on the basis of the evaluation of their scientific achievements to date and their research plans for the coming years. The Academia will ultimately consist of 48 members. Every year, 24 new representatives will be elected for a duration period lasting 2 academic years.
– I would like the Academy to be also a sort of voice of postdoc assistant professors at the University. I want them to be represented at our University and to be able to give opinions on certain issues, submit their comments, and have a real impact on the present and the future of the University – says Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Thanks to the Academia, the University wants to educate great leaders for the future, but also to make work at WUST more attractive, and thus – to convince young scientists to continue their professional careers at our University. Therefore, all members of the AI can count on a number of benefits to help them focus on their research work. They will receive an additional 50% of their salary and their teaching load will be reduced to 120 hours. In addition, they will be covered by a program of specialist trainings and workshops on various issues – incl. effective grant applications, public speaking, contacts with the media or the art of argumentation.
