Third position among technical universities and fifth in the general classification – Wrocław University of Science and Technology classified handsomely in the general classification of the Polish Academic Championships. Zuzanna Jasińska from our Faculty received a Letter of Congratulations for the gold medal won during the University Games in Chengdu. The awards for the past season were presented during a ceremony held in Warsaw.

img_0370.jpgThe Academic Sports Gala is organized every year and in order to recognize people and organizations that achieved outstanding results in the past year. Each year, the event is organized in a different place, and this time the academic athletes were invited to Warsaw..

– We are very happy with our result, because it confirms the high level of our athletes and coaches. A year ago we climbed high in the classifications, and the plan for the passing year was to maintain our position. And we succeeded really well – says Robert Jarosz, director of the School of Physical Education and Sport, who, together with Jakub Osóbka, his deputy for development and sport, represented Wrocław University of Science and Technology during the ceremony.

Individually, the 2022/23 season belonged to Zuzanna Jasińska, who won the gold medal at the University Games in Chengdu by winning the lightweight singles rowing competition over a distance of 2,000 meters. In May, she also won gold at the Polish Academic Rowing Championships, competing in the women's singles category.

– Universities ahead of us have competitive sports sections, and we operate only at the academic level, also using the support of students training outside the university – notes Jakub Osóbka. – I am particularly encouraged by the good performance of our teams in team sports. Most of them qualified for the national finals, which is not a small feat. Especially since our teams don't compete on the league level..

Moreover, it is worth reminding that once again Wrocław University of Science and Technology won – with a great lead over other universities – in the Lower Silesian Interuniversity League 2022/23.
