He is the author of a monograph, a co-author of a script and a textbook, and a co-editor of four books. Expert in the field of knowledge engineering.
He has extensive knowledge in the field of project management. He managed several teaching as well as research and development projects. He was a speaker at renowned universities, including: Yeungnam University, Chung-Ang University, Kyoto University, Queen Mary University of London, King's College London and the University of Otago.
He was the supervisor of over 100 diploma theses. The master's thesis conducted under his supervision in coordination with the Blekinge Institute of Technology was awarded in the Double Diploma program.
His scientific and application interests are related to issues of knowledge propagation, data integration and quality, predictive analysis, cognitive techniques, deep learning, in particular in industrial applications. He is an expert of the European Commission, the National Centre for Research and Development, the National Agency for Academic Exchange and several foreign scholarship programs.
In 2020, he was elected vice-chair of the SMC-28 Branch of the Polish Section of IEEE. Since 2021, he has been the vice-dean for general affairs at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, WUST.
His experience in ensuring the quality of education includes chairing the program committee for the field of applied computer science at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Recently, this activity has involved a significant modification of the teaching programs for first- and second-cycle studies. The aim of this work was to adapt the programs to the requirements of the rapidly changing labour market and to improve the learning outcomes.
Prof. Dariusz Król pays special attention to the high quality of teaching in academic classes and to ensuring that the content of classes remains in connection with the latest achievements in science and practice. These activities have largely contributed to the fact that applied computer science enjoys the greatest interest among candidates for first-cycle studies at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Moreover, during his two-year research stay in Great Britain, he became familiar with modern teaching methods (demonstrations, interactions, collaborative and interdisciplinary learning), as well as the REF procedures for science evaluation and for the recruitment of academic teachers.
After returning to the country, he successfully used these methods in four fields of study: computer science, applied computer science, systems engineering and applied mathematics. He was the head of the research project "Deep recommendation based on collective knowledge" carried out as part of the Executive Program of the German Academic Exchange Service carried out at the Wilhelm University of Westphalia. During this time, he became familiar with the teaching methods used in doctoral studies (diversification, mobility, individual research program, scientific supervision). These methods were implemented as part of courses conducted for the Doctoral School, including in the "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" course, awarded in the INTERDOCSCHOOL competition.
He has been the supervisor of the JAVATECH Student Research Club for eighteen years. Its members, students of computer science, mathematics and electronics, have significant achievements and they are co-authors of several implemented IT systems.
Privately, he is a husband and a father of four children, a lover of art, theatre and chamber music.
