The 3rd Activity Days at our Faculty, which took place on 22 October, 2024, attracted students and exhibitors, not only from our Faculty but also from the entire Univeristy. The competition for the best stand was won by the Algo student research club. Thank you and see you next year!
The third edition of the Days of Activity at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology gathered 20 exhibitors: our student research clubs and representatives of the Faculty's student government, as well as university-wide organizations.
DaWIT is a good opportunity to get to know more closely the student research clubs operating at our Faculty or those which our students participate in. The event was a great opportunity to learn more about such clubs and organizations. Some visitors had clearly defined goals and came to ask about recruitment conditions, others wanted to spend an interesting time, and some came to collect special stamps that served as tickets in a lottery for a WUST sweatshirt and faculty-branded mugs. Thank you all!
During the event, the participants could visit stands prepared by student research clubs, where they could not only talk, but also play both computer and board games, or get promotional leaflets, stickers, brochures and gadgets from the Faculty and those prepared by the clubs. And there was a lot to choose from – DaWIT 2024 was a venue for:
• KN BioMedical AI
• KN Breadboard Computing
• KN CyberTech
• KN Kredek
• Academic Aviation Club Jetstream
• The „Neuroinformatics" Neuron Club
• KN WIT+AI
• KN Algorismus Science Club
• KN Reliability and security of IT systems
• KN EKA.NET
• KN TK Games
• KN White Hats
• KN Solvro
• KN Drumyr
• KN WMS_Dev.
In addition to research clubs and student organizations, such as the Faculty's Student Government or the Academic IT Association, which also recruited people, exhibitors at DaWIT also included university units whose aim is to support students. Their support covers the development of a professional career, as well as help in difficult life-related situations. The stands where you could get the necessary information about all kinds of help included:
• Department of Accessibility and Support for People with Disabilities
• Academic Entrepreneurship Incubator
• Peer Tutoring
DaWIT was also an opportunity to win three WUST sweatshirts and 3 Faculty mugs. The most active students collected stamps from exhibitors and took part in a lottery. Students who took part in the competitions should now check their e-mail!
At the end of the event, the jury consisting of: Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, dean of the Faculty, Prof. Paweł Wachel, vice-dean for student affairs, and Ula Małecka, head of the Team for Promotion and Contact with Stakeholders, announced the results of the competition for the best stand prepared by the research clubs, in which the prize was a roll-up. This year the winners were Algorismus Science Club, who prepared games with prizes, a quiz on algorithms and also offered a chance to play Minecraft with the use of an electronic piano as a controller. The instrument attracted some of the more artistically gifted persons at our Faculty.
Congratulations to the winning team and to the new owners of the sweatshirts and mugs. Thank you for your presence at DaWIT and hope to meet you in the next edition in 2025.
