Date: 31.10.2025 Category: General

dawit_2025-50.jpgStudents, as well as exhibitors from  both our Faculty and our University participated in the 4th edition of the DaWIT Activity Days. The event took place on 21 October. The competition for the best exhibition stand was won, for the second year in a row, by the Algo Student Research Club, which presented the Check-Mate 2.0 project – an interactive chess game system. Congratulations and thank you for being there with us. See you next year!

Faculty Of Information and Communication Technology Activity Days are a great opportunity for new students of the Faculty to learn about our student research clubs and gain information about university organisations.

– I'm interested in programming and I came to see what development opportunities we have in our Faculty. I haven't yet decided whether to join a club where I could use some existing skills or to look for one where I can learn something new – said Szymon, a student of Algorithmic Computer Science in our Faculty.
– I've heard that participating in a student research club is a great way for students to enhance their qualifications in various fields. During DaWIT, we can learn something about such clubs. There are people here who are happy to answer our questions – adds Mateusz, who is also studying algorithmic computer science in our Faculty.

dawit_2025-23.jpgThis year's edition of DaWIT attracted 25 exhibitors. They were mainly research clubs operating in our Faculty. Many of them are currently recruiting, e.g. our two strategic clubs.

The team of the “Neuron” Neuroinformatics Research Club consists of software developers and other specialists interested in neuroinformatics. They work with brain-computer interfaces, through which they gather information about brain activity for further processing. Later, they use the information to prepare artificial intelligence models and use them in various types of applications.

– Today we are showing the game to the students. Some of its elements can be controlled with brain waves. The headband measures the player's concentration level, which is displayed as a percentage on the bar. Depending on the level of focus, some platforms in the game move. Sometimes you need to focus more, and other times you need to relax – explains Iuliia Kapustinskaia, vice president of Neuron.

The strategic “Solvro” Research Club was launched in 2018. It brings together programming enthusiasts and operates in areas such as frontend, backend, mobile, devops, UI/UX, management, IT consulting, and Machine Learning. It organizes conferences, training sessions, and workshops, enhancing practical skills required in the job market.

– On the one hand, we constantly encourage students to join our club, and on the other hand, we advertise our applications, such as ToPWR, which particularly helps students in their first study years – emphasizes Oliwier Dygdałowicz, who is responsible for promotion at KN Solvro.

During the event, newly established research clubs from our Faculty also had a chance to present themselves. One of them is “Emognition”, which aims to expand knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

– One of the projects we are currently working on involves authenticating users using ECG signals. Such a system could assist, for instance, in two-factor authentication of bank users – notes Jan Szyndlarewicz, president of the Emognition Student Research Club.

Our second new club is Estimator. It creates a bridge between the world of science, companies, and institutions.

– We want students to have the opportunity to gain practical experience already during their studies. We carry out projects in collaboration with companies and institutions. We also want to support students in starting their own businesses – says Kinga Kulawik, president of the Estymator club.

dawit_2025-14.jpgHere is the list of other student research clubs that participated in DaWIT 2025:

  • Algo
  • Creation and Development Group “Kredek”
  • KN CyberTech
  • KN EKA.NET
  • KN TK Games
  • KN White Hats
  • ALIVE
  • WMS_DEV
  • WIT+AI
  • Genetic Algorithms 'N' Great Structure Analyzing Solvers
  • InforMusic
  • Qubit
  • The “Student Developer Studio”

DaWIT was also an occasion to find out more about and apply to student organizations such as the Faculty's Student Government.

– We organize events at the Faculty. We also solve our students' problems. I am motivated to participate in the student government because I can work for the community and with people – emphasizes Roch Rupar, a member of the Faculty's Student Government.

dawit_2025-65.jpgThe exhibitors also included university-wide student support administration sections. Their support covers both the development of professional careers and aid in difficult life-related situations:

dawit_2025-80.jpgSome students participating in the Faculty Activity Days collected stamps from exhibitors and took part in a lottery. DaWIT was an opportunity to win three WUST sweatshirts and 3 Faculty mugs. Those who participated in the lottery should check their email inboxes for any notification of a win.

At the end of the event, the jury consisting of: Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, dean of the Faculty, Prof. Paweł Wachel, vice-dean for student affairs, and Ula Małecka, head of the Team for Promotion and Contact with Stakeholders, announced the results of the competition for the best stand prepared by the research clubs. The Algo Research Club won again, with their project Check-Mate 2.0. This is an interactive chess system that combines a traditional board with elements of automation and artificial intelligence. The pawns move automatically in it.

dawit_2025-06.jpgCongratulations to the winning team and to the new owners of the sweatshirts and mugs. Thank you for your presence at DaWIT and hope to meet you in the next edition in 2026.
