The Belgian Polonia High School No. 14 in Wrocław has recently joined the group of schools under the wing of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The cooperation agreement was signed by Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, rector of the university and Anna Maćkowska, the school's headmaster.
– As a university, we have a certain obligation towards high schools, including High School No. 14. Many of our scientists are graduates of this school. They make great lecturers, which is probably partly due to educational experience there – said Prof. Wójs. – At our university, we nurture excellence, and our employees use their skills to create something of value. That is why we so much appreciate and support the same activities carried out by educational units in our environment – he added.
As part of the agreement, Wrocław University of Science and Technology will enable interested high school students to, among others: participate in selected lectures, exercises, laboratory classes, conferences and symposiums organized by the Faculties of Chemistry, Information and Communication Technology and Fundamental Problems of Technology.
Students will also be able to use the university's reading room, library and digital resources, and receive help from employees of all faculties, in the form of scientific consultations.
– Signing the agreement is a dream come true for two of our previous headmasters, because we have been trying to establish cooperation with Wrocław University of Science and Technology for a long time. Our students should have contact with various types of universities, because it will allow them to gain many new experiences – said Anna Maćkowska, the school's headmaster. - In our work, the most important thing is to cooperate, with both schools and universities. This is the only way for our students to become successful – she added.
The agreement was concluded for an indefinite period and is one of the elements of the "Cooperation with high schools" project carried out at our university. As part of it, students can participate in such events as workshops, lectures and laboratories in chemistry, physics, mathematics and electrical engineering.
The Belgian Polonia High School No. 14 was founded in 1974. It offers class profiles in mathematics, IT, and chemistry, as well as bilingual classes (legal and economic).
