61 scientists in the main list (“career”) and 51 in the 2024 ranking (“single year”) – these are the results of WUST researchers in the most recent edition of the prestigious list of the world's most influential scientists. A total of 81 WUST employees were classified in the TOP 2% of the most frequently cited authors. Our Faculty's scientists are on the list.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking is prepared by a team from Stanford University, in collaboration with Elsevier publishing and the Scopus database. It is an evaluation of the entire research output according to the bibliometric index and taking into account such criteria as: the Hirsch index, the number of citations (including self-citations) or the contribution of the author to the publications.
The list of scientists is divided into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields, in accordance with the standard Science-Metrix classification. It comprises the names of 100,000 most frequently cited researchers, as per c-score (with and without self-citations) and 2% authors most frequently cited in the particular field.
Each year, two lists are published: the first covers the entire scientific career, while the second recognises achievements from the previous year. The rank included a record-breaking number of 79 researchers from our University, out of which 30 were included in both lists.
In the overall list, we have 61 people representing WUST. That's as many as eight more than last year and three more than two years ago.
