Miłosz Chojecki from our Faculty has been selected for the National Academic Team for the academic year 2024/2025. Our student practises Olympic archery. He is a long-time national representative in this discipline.
Talented archer
Miłosz Chojecki graduated in algorithmic computer science from our Faculty. He is going to continue his education with us in the field of artificial intelligence. He also practises Olympic archery. He is a long-standing member of the national team of the Polish Archery Association in this discipline.
– Archery in fact accounts for half of my life. I started training at the age of 11. I've certainly learned a lot thanks to this sport. I have become much more independent. I had to travel a lot to different countries. At the competition, I battled with constant stress. The competition level is very high – says our student and archer Miłosz Chojecki.
He is a multiple medallist in the Polish championships. He also participated in the World and European Archery Championships and represented our country in the Archery World Cup events.
– I've always wanted to go to the Olympic Games. The next ones are in Los Angeles in 2028. It might work. And even if not, there is not really an age limit in archery. One can be over 40 and still compete in the Olympics – he emphasises.
Support for the athlete
Miłosz Chojecki from our Faculty has been selected for the National Academic Team for the academic year 2024/2025. This is a project started by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. It was established to financially support the organisation of additional classes for students pursuing a sports career.
– We are talking about one hundred hours paid for by the ministry, which I can use at the university for individual sessions with the lecturers. It's definite advantageous because I can catch up on the material missed when I'm away from the university. Or review it individually for the exam – says Chojecki.
– I need this. For example, in the year 2022 I attended classes for one week, then I was absent the next, and this pattern repeated. I missed virtually the entire semester. I didn't even have 50 percent attendance because I was always travelling, so it definitely helps in such situations – he adds.
As part of the fifth edition of the program, the ministry granted support to 35 universities, including Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
The program is open to public and private universities with at least 200 full-time students, among which there are Olympic training players, medallists of the Olympic Games, European Games, Senior World Championships and Senior European Championships, University Olympic Games and Academic World Championships, as well as students-athletes with disabilities, including the hearing impaired and students-athletes with sports classification – international championship and championship.
