It's already spring, but we are still enjoying further medals won by our representatives in winter competitions, this time in alpine skiing and snowboarding.
This year's Polish Academic Alpine Skiing Championships were organized on the Harendy slope in Zakopane. Difficult conditions were not an obstacle for the team from Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Piotr Browarski from our Faculty repeated his achievement from the previous championships and won the bronze medal in the giant slalom in the classification of technical universities. He was ultimately tenth in the general classification – in both giant slalom and special slalom.
The historic, first medal in the history of Wrocław University of Science and Technology was won by our players, who took third place in the team classification of technical universities and eighth place in the overall ranking. The men finished the team competition in 10th place.
Another historic moment for Wroclaw University of Science and Technology was in snowboarding. For the first time, both men and women won medals in the academic championships.
Zuzanna Sokalska, who made her debut in the competition, won silver in the slalom in the technical universities classification and tenth place in the general classification. And Konrad Bik, student of our Faculty, won bronze among representatives of technical universities and took seventh place in the general ranking in banked slalom. In the same category, Zuzanna Sokalska took fourth place in the technical universities category, being only one hundredth of a second short of the medal.
Four victories (one after penalties) and two defeats – this is the balance of the players from the women futsal section who took part in the competition in Katowice. These results allowed us to finish in the seventh place in the Academic Championships qualifying tournament and make it to the finals, where our representatives were ultimately classified in places 13-16.
