Dr. Jerzy Ramert-Greblicki from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology has joined the group of experts appointed to the Council for New Technologies and Digitisation at the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland. The appointment ceremony took place on 18 December 2025 at the Belweder Palace. Congratulations!

On behalf of President Karol Nawrocki, the official letters of appointment were handed over by Minister Adam Andruszkiewicz, Deputy Head of the Presidential Chancellery. The newly established body is intended to serve as a platform for dialogue on matters of key importance to Poland’s technological and economic development.

Objectives and responsibilities of the new Council

The Council for New Technologies and Digitisation focuses its efforts on areas that are vital to national sovereignty and security. Its primary responsibilities include preparing recommendations on:

• the development of breakthrough technologies and innovation,
• the development of secure digital infrastructure,
• the ethical dimension of technological progress,
• data protection and strengthening the nation’s resilience at a strategic level.

In a letter addressed to the members of the Council, President Karol Nawrocki emphasised that Polish technologies are a guarantee of national independence, and that the experts’ work should combine dynamic development with safeguarding the national interest and the security of citizens.

Scientific perspective and collaboration

During the inaugural meeting, the Chair of the Council, Magdalena Hajduk, emphasised that the group’s goal is to develop concrete solutions supporting Poland’s technological sovereignty. During the meeting, the members familiarised themselves, among other things, with the conclusions of the Breakthrough Technologies Report (Emerging Technologies Index – ETI) and discussed the draft act on the Fund for the Development of Breakthrough Technologies.

The participation of a representative of Wrocław University of Science and Technology in the Council’s work provides the University with a direct influence on shaping the directions of digital development in Poland and enables the transfer of academic knowledge into decision-making processes at the state level.

The Council consists of nearly 30 experts, including representatives of academia and presidential advisers.
