KISS IT – First Edition of Our Student Council's Conference

KISS IT PWr marked the first edition of an IT conference created by students from the WIT Student Council. The initiative responds to a clear demand for such events—not only among students, but also within the IT job market. The conference took place on 17 March and is set to become a recurring event.
The programme featured lectures, hands-on workshops, panel discussions and a networking session bringing together experts, company representatives, student research clubs and student organisations from Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
During the official opening, Prof. Andrzej Kucharski, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunications, congratulated the students and the WIT Student Council for their initiative and commitment.

– The students built this from scratch, entirely on their own. This is your achievement. Congratulations! – said the Dean.
As part of the programme, the organisers delivered four hours of lectures, practical workshops and created opportunities for direct conversations with IT companies.
The conference covered topics such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, game development and other cutting-edge technologies. Representatives of IT companies actively looking to collaborate with students were also invited.

Throughout the day, participants could visit partner stands, explore job and internship offers, and connect with recruiters and industry experts.
Szymon Matyja, Chair of the Student Parliament Board at Wrocław Tech, highlighted both the initiative itself and the broad range of communities it managed to reach.

– We are all here—students from Wrocław Tech and the University of Wrocław, as well as pupils from high schools and technical schools. There is business, there is the city. We have Wrocław and all of Poland here. I’m glad that we, as students, recognised the need and were able to respond to it – he said.

– We believe that modern IT is not just lines of code, but above all people, vision and real impact on the world. This event is for everyone—whether you code, design UX, work with AI, cybersecurity or quantum computing. We designed the programme so that everyone could find something for themselves and open the door to a career beyond standard paths – said the organisers.
One of the key points of the programme was a panel discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence on the IT market and software development. The panel featured representatives of both industry and academia: Maciej Koszarek (Capgemini), Krzysztof Raszczuk (InsERT), Dr Piotr Syga (IDENTT, Department of Artificial Intelligence), Prof. Adrianna Kozierkiewicz (Department of Applied Computer Science), Wiktor Sadowy (PhD student) and Julia Kapuścińska (Neuron research club).

Piotr Dębicki, Chair of the WIT Student Council, thanked everyone involved in organising the event.

– This would not have been possible without your commitment. Thank you! – he said.
The conference was co-created by many WIT student research clubs, which prepared their own lectures and workshops. The programme included representatives of the strategic Solvro, Neuron, Algo, TK Games and GANGStAS. More information about our research clubs is available here.
