New Building for AI, 6G and Quantum Communication Technologies

Date: 14.05.2026 Categories: General

At the Na Grobli campus, works started on the construction of a new building which will accommodate the “Centre for Trusted Information and Telecommunication Systems”. It will comprise specialist research laboratories and test centres, an antenna terrace, a photovoltaic installation, and full social facilities.

Building the centre is closely linked to the development plans of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, described in the university's development strategy. The primary task of the centre is to integrate environments and inspire cooperation with other research centres, the business environment, public administration, and non-governmental organisations.

It will be located in a new building, which is being built next to the “Polinka” station at 8-2 Na Grobli St. The three-floor building will be over 13 metres high and will have the total area of almost 2800 square metres. Works are performed in the “design and build” system by FineTech Construction Sp. z o.o. They should finish in the third quarter of 2027.

“The Centre will conduct research activities in the field of telecommunications and ICT, including quantum and mobile telecommunications, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, communication in microwave bands and secure automation, mechatronics and control systems,” says Prof. Łukasz Sójka from the Department of ICT and Telecommunications, head of the centre.

Key research directions and specialist laboratories

The centre will allow research in seven specialist laboratories:

  • Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence,
  • Laboratory of Cybersecurity,
  • Laboratory of Microwave Communication Systems,
  • Laboratory of 6G Cellular Systems,
  • Laboratory of Quantum Telecommunications,
  • Laboratory of Quantum Cryptography,
  • Laboratory of Control Systems and Mechatronics.

The research conducted at the centre will focus on such areas: advanced data security systems, design and testing of security in ICT infrastructure, development of machine learning algorithms for various applications, development of 6G communication systems, and integration of cybersecurity in automation and mechatronics systems.
