As many as 19 students from our Faculty were among the recipients of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Rector’s Awards, granted for outstanding results in competitions and contests, as well as for their involvement in building the image of the university. The distinctions were presented during the 2026 Student Activity Gala, at which supervisors of student research clubs, cultural organisations and student organisations, as well as dean’s offices and Wrocław University of Science and Technology employees supporting students, were also recognised. Congratulations!

The gala was once again organised jointly at the Student Culture Zone by the Student Activity Support Department and the Student Government of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. During the event, we met the winners of the Poliludek plebiscite, while the Student Government awarded outstanding dean’s offices.

Special distinctions were also presented to the most dedicated supervisors of student research clubs, cultural organisations and student organisations. Wrocław University of Science and Technology employees who support student activity on a daily basis were also recognised.

– I would like to thank all students for their commitment, energy and contribution to the life of Wrocław University of Science and Technology – said Dr. Piotr Górski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, during the gala. – Thanks to your projects, activities and successes, our university is developing and demonstrating its strength in many areas: scientific, sporting and artistic. I wish everyone that the coming year will bring even more inspiring ideas, bold initiatives and shared successes – added Dr. Górski.

In turn, our student Szymon Matyja, Chairman of the Student Government of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, thanked the university and Faculty authorities, as well as the Student Activity Support Department, for their support, trust and openness to students’ needs.

The most active students receive awards

During the Student Activity Gala, we recognise the most active and engaged students involved in scientific, sporting, artistic and social activities.

These are people who represent the university in competitions and contests, develop projects in student research clubs, cultural organisations, organisations and student governments, and prepare for championships and artistic events. They combine all this with their studies, and often also with professional work.

Minister’s scholarship holders recognised

During the gala, diplomas were also presented to our 14 recipients of this year’s Minister of Science and Higher Education scholarships. Among them was Paweł Dzikiewicz from WIT.

Paweł Dzikiewicz is the former president of the Neuron “Neuroinformatics” Student Research Club, who continues his second-cycle studies in Applied Computer Science and is preparing his master’s thesis. In December, for his overall activity for the academic community – from involvement in student research clubs, through the organisation of events, to engagement in the Student Government and initiatives for the local community – he became a recipient of the Sigma Award, granted by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Alumni Association.

His interests focus on artificial intelligence, computer games and brain–computer interfaces. It is at the intersection of these areas that he carries out research projects and develops his scientific activity, which led to him receiving the scholarship. He has team achievements in international hackathons to his credit – including second place in NeuroTechX for the prototype of the “Bore No More” application, in which the dynamics of the gameplay depended on the player’s level of boredom, and third place in the Music & AI Hackathon for a solution matching the mood of generated music to the user’s emotional state.

Further awards

Piotr Lampa from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a subject-matter consultant for the “Scorpio” Student Research Club of Unconventional Vehicles, became this year’s Poliludek award winner. In the Supervisor of the Year plebiscite organised by the Manus Foundation, the awards went to Katarzyna Krzywniak, conductor of the university orchestra, and Dr. Wiesław Wędrychowicz, supervisor of the Academic Aviation Club of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

The Supervisor of the Year plebiscite is organised by the Manus Foundation, giving students the opportunity to recognise the supervisors of student research clubs, student organisations and cultural organisations who provide them with enormous support.

Finally, the most student-friendly dean’s offices at our university were awarded. This year, the travelling Smiling Dean’s Office statuettes were presented to the Faculty of Chemistry and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Branch in Jelenia Góra.
