Three students from our Faculty were among the six representatives of Wrocław University of Science and Technology qualified for the 6th edition of the National Academic Representation project. Thanks to the ministerial programme, they will be able to combine their sports careers with their studies.

National Academic Representation (NRA) is a project run by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. It was created to financially support the organisation of additional classes for students pursuing a sports career.

The programme is open to public and private universities with at least 200 full-time students, including athletes participating in Olympic training programmes, medallists of the Olympic Games, European Games, senior world championships and senior European championships, Universiades and academic world championships, as well as student-athletes with disabilities, including hearing-impaired athletes and students holding master or international master sports classes.

In the sixth edition of the NRA project, support was granted to 40 higher education institutions, including Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Our university is represented by six athletes: Marcin Walenciak, Mateusz Kula and Michał Walenciak (all from our Faculty), as well as Rozalia Dutczak and Michał Gancarczyk (both from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), and Łucja Wesołowska (Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology).

Marcin Walenciak (judo)

A second-year student of ICT. He has been training judo since the age of seven. He is a member of the Polish national team in the under-100 kg category. Winner of four Polish championship medals and three European championship medals. He considers his greatest achievement to be finishing fifth at the European Junior Championships.

Mateusz Kula (orienteering)

A third-year student of Technical Computer Science. Since 2017 he has been part of the national junior team, and since 2023 he has belonged to the national senior team in orienteering. In 2025 he won the Polish championship title in all competitions in the U23 category.

He has represented Poland multiple times at World Cup events and was a finalist of the 2025 World Championships in middle-distance orienteering.

Michał Walenciak (judo)

A second-year student of ICT. He has been training judo for more than 14 years. He has won four individual Polish championship gold medals and three European Cup medals. He represents Poland in the under-100 kg category and takes part in national team training camps.
