At the end of June, new members of the Management Board of the Student Parliament at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology were selected for the 2024/25 term of office. The Board has many representatives of our Faculty. The term of office begins on 1 September.
The new members of the Management Board of the WUST Student Parliament were elected by a group of 45 persons. The group comprised three representatives of each of the faculties and one representative of each of the WUST branches. The applicant teams had to deliver a presentation of their program and answer questions from the representatives of the Student Parliament.
The winning team has four members from our Faculty. It is headed by Piotr Gabrysch. Wojciech Dominiak was appointed the vice-chairman, and Marvin Ruciński and Jakub Karpowicz are members for IT and for sports and tourism, respectively.
– I will be responsible for expressing the voice of the Parliament and of all students to the university authorities. I will also manage the work of the entire Board and Parliament, and also represent the University in national bodies or even abroad. We are members of such consortia as Unite!. We want to mark our presence there – says Piotr Gabrysch.
– My role is both easy and difficult. I am a direct support for Piotrek, but also for the entire Board of the Parliament. I have always performed supporting functions and I would like to continue doing so. I am also designated as a contact person with local authorities. I mean, for example, the Wrocław Academic Center. The area of my activity is teaching and teaching-social activities – explains Wojciech Dominiak
The Board is the highest executive body of the Self-Government at the University. They are the only representatives authorized to talk to the Rector's Office. They speak out in advisory matters or in matters of agreements. These may be topics related to scholarships, dormitories, but also, for example, the selection of the vice-rector for student affairs. They may also have their own initiatives such as Juwenalia or the QUINTUS competition – says the chairman from our Faculty, Piotr Gabrysch.

We are one of the few faculties which have representatives in all bodies of the Parliament and in all collegial bodies. Also at the highest levels. As a Faculty, we have chairpersons. – It is quite prestigious that our Faculty is literally everywhere. And rightly so, after all, we are the largest faculty – admit our students from the Management Board of the WUST Student Parliament.
– I have my head full of ideas. I hope that this year will allow us to carry out all of them. My goal is for everyone at WUST to be able to fulfil even the smallest dreams. And this applies to both self-fulfilment and social areas. We are at a technical university, and yet soft skills or the social sphere are greatly developed here. Whether owing to the cultural agenda or the activities of the Student Government – says the chairman.
– I would like all students to know about us. That we are here, that we are open to their needs, and that they can search for help with us. We will answer any questions. We are the voice of the students. That is what it is all about, to see the needs of those we represent. This is my goal. I believe that we will be able to do a lot of good things this year," says our student.
In addition to Piotr Gabrysch and Wojciech Dominiak, who head the new Board, there are also other representatives of our Faculty. Marvin Ruciński will be the member for IT, and Jakub Karpowicz will be the member for sports and tourism.
– I lead the committee, which primarily deals with the organization of the WUST League, student camps and other events, such as the Local Government Trail. I would like to focus on supporting athletes at WUST. My goal is to raise awareness that we have a well-functioning sports background at WUST. Many students do not know about some sports sections or specific disciplines – says Jakub Karpowicz.
– My role will be to coordinate IT projects and problems of the Student Government and to act as an intermediary between the Student Government and the IT Department. My goal is to promote existing projects of the IT committee and revitalize them so that they reflect the actual needs of the Student Government and students at WUST – explains Marvin Ruciński.
