madyeski_lech-8.jpgProf. Lech Madeyski deputy head of the Deparment of Applied Computer Science, received a prestigious scientific scholarship in the category of publication activity. The distinction was awarded by the Rector's Committee for Scientific Awards. The ceremony took place on 14 November in the main auditorium hall during the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Day. Congratulations!

Scientific achievements in numbers

The distinction is awarded for scientific achievements. Prof. Lech Madeyski has 140 works to his name, including 52 articles in journals. He is regularly recognised in the prestigious Top 2% scientist ranking, which lists the most frequently cited publications worldwide (Google Scholar, Scopus).

– In the latest edition of the ranking, I am listed both in the 2024 "single year" ranking and on the main "career” list for my overall achievements – emphasizes Prof. Madeyski.

International cooperation

Prof. Madeyski is a software engineering enthusiast who creates AI solutions. His activity is strongly linked to the international research environment.

– I have the chance to closely collaborate with leading scientists from abroad, including Prof. Barbara Kitchenham from the United Kingdom. I have had the opportunity to be a member of the program committees of the most prestigious software engineering conferences in the world, such as ASE'2023 in Luxembourg, FSE'2025 in Trondheim, and ICSE'2026 in Rio de Janeiro, all ranked CORE A*, and in all of them, I am perhaps the only scientist with a Polish affiliation – he enumerates.

And he further adds that he also built his international position as a visiting scholar at Keele University, Brunel University London, and Lancaster University in the UK, as well as at the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden. At this last university he also spent some time as a visiting professor.

Impact on discipline: publications and editing

As the professor points out, he actively shapes the development of his discipline. He is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the journal e-Informatica Software Engineering Journal (CiteScore’2024=3.5, Impact Factor’2024=1.2) and the originator and one of the founders of the International Conference on Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering (ENASE).

He has published in the most prestigious journals (including IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Information and Software Technology) and at leading CORE A* conferences (ICSE, FSE, ASE). He is also the author of the book "Test-Driven Development – An Empirical Evaluation of Agile Practice", which is prefaced by Prof. Claes Wohlin and published by Springer.

Prof. Madeyski is also a member of the Computer Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the chairman of the Software Engineering Section of this Committee.
