Quiet Zones on the Campus Now Available

Date: 07.04.2026 Categories: General

The first quiet zones for students, doctoral students, and employees are already open at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The two quiet rooms are the result of the #sPokójPWr project, which won the Polytechnica Nova competition. Another place for regeneration and concentration will open soon.

Starting today, our university’s campus has two spaces where members of the academic community can slow down and regenerate. The new places are intended to support people who need a break during a busy day at the university.

– Both places were created with people in mind who feel overstimulated, need a moment to catch their breath, look for more intimate conditions to take their medicine, or simply want to regenerate in silence – says Prof. Karolina Jaklewicz, Vice-Rector for Development and Community Integration.

The originator of the #sPokójPWr project was Dr. Natalia Ratajczak-Szponik. Its subsequent development stages were carried out by the Accessibility Department, the Accessibility Leaders team, Agnieszka Marek-Kwocz, M.Sc. in Architecture, and the Urban Environment Humanization student research club led by Dr. Jerzy Łątka.

Peace and quiet in the heart of the library

A mobile quiet room is located in the Open Study Zone in building D-21 (2nd floor). It is a modern acoustic booth that creates a noise-isolated zone of tranquillity, equipped with a comfortable armchair and a table.

It is a place where one can pause for a moment, calm down, and regain energy for further work or study.

More space to relax

The second quiet room is located on the lower ground floor of building C-19. This specially adapted and renovated room offers more space and a sense of privacy. In addition to basic equipment – a pouf and a table – the room will also feature, among other things, a reclining armchair allowing rest in a lying position, speakers for relaxing music, and a plasma lamp.

The room has been designed to support regeneration and temporary isolation from excessive stimuli.

This is just the beginning

The opening of the first two quiet rooms marks the beginning of building a network of spaces at Wrocław University of Science and Technology that support the well-being of the academic community. The initiative is also part of the activities carried out within the university campaign “Different Minds – One University”, which draws attention to neurodiversity and the need to create a friendly, supportive environment for learning and work for all members of our community.

Another place supporting regeneration and concentration – the Mindfulness Capsule – will be created in building C-13. It will be an original concept developed jointly by staff and students from the Urban Environment Humanization student research club at the Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
