The „Young Talents" competition is organised by the Lower Silesian Capital Club, and the marshal and voivode of our voivodeship took honorary patronage over the event.

The prizes and distinctions are awarded by a jury composed of university rectors, representatives of regional authorities and entrepreneurs. First, three finalists were selected in each of the six categories, and the winners were announced during the gala in Aula Leopoldina. The winners receive cash prizes and a statuette made by Wrocław sculptor Jarosław Nowak.

This year, representatives of our University won two main prizes.

In the „Success in innovation" category, the prize went to the students from the Pipelon team at „Neuron” Neuroinformatics Research Club. They have developed a tool called „Bore no More" that allows the application to be tailored to the user's feelings. In this case, it involved a game's difficulty level based on the user's state of boredom, as detected by brain wave activity.

In the future, the students would like to develop their project as open source software that will not only popularize the use of brain-computer interfaces among other programmers, but also have an impact on other enthusiasts of this field – neuroinformaticians and brain researchers.

The winners in the same category were also students from the Scorpio Project team, which designs and builds Mars rovers. They compete successfully with their designs in international competitions around the world.

In the „Success in social activities" category, the prize went to Julia Heś and Weronika Piotrowska, students from the „Habitat NOW" Research Club at the Faculty of Architecture. They deal primarily with the issue of designing human living environments, and their most important initiatives include a metamorphosis project of the Café Równik club and the „Zielony Plac Grunwaldzki" project.

Cafe Równik has been operating in Wrocław's Nadodrze district since June 2018. It employs several people with disabilities, for whom working at Cafe Równik is not only a form of employment, but also therapy, thanks to constant contact with the café club's customers. Last year, the place underwent renovation and completely changed its interior, which was designed by the members of „Habitat NOW”. On the wall of the premises, the young architects also painted a mural depicting several figures and a tree as a symbol of growth.

In turn, the „Zielony Plac Grunwaldzki" project concerns the renovation of the area around the intersection of Ładna, Miła, Grunwaldzka, Górnickiego and Benedyktyńska streets and was submitted for implementation as part of the Wrocław Citizens' Budget 2023.
